The 2025 Bản Phủ Citadel Festival opens

ĐBP - On the morning of March 23, the Điện Biên district People’s Committee launched the 2025 Bản Phủ Citadel Festival at the national historical and cultural relic site of Bản Phủ Citadel in Noong Hẹt Commune.

Attendees included Mr. Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lê Thành Đô, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Lò Văn Phương, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Mùa A Vảng, Alternate Member of the Central Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Delegations from Phon Thoong and Muong May Districts in Phongsali province, Laos, as well as delegations from Hòa Bình, Bắc Giang, and Thái Bình provinces, also attended the event.

The festival consists of two main parts, namely ceremonial rituals and festive activities. The ceremonial rituals feature traditional cultural activities such as dragon dancing and drum performances. The festive activities include cultural and artistic performances, sports competitions, and traditional games.

This year’s festival marks the 271st anniversary of the victory of Hoàng Công Chất’s insurgent army in liberating Mường Thanh (1754-2025), the 256th anniversary of General Hoàng Công Chất’s death (1769-2025), and the 71st anniversary of the historic Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025).

The Bản Phủ Citadel Festival is an annual event held on February 24 and 25 of the lunar calendar to honor General Hoàng Công Chất, along with Generals Lò Ngải, Lò Khanh, and their insurgent forces. The festival aims to educate people about the nation’s traditions, patriotism, unity, and national pride, while promoting tourism and socio-economic development in Điện Biên district and the province as a whole.
